TASK 1The attention-getter in this case, is a history of a hero who was awarded a congressional medal of honor for his actions. When the audience hears the word medal of honor, they become interested in knowing the content of the speecha clear indication of an effective attention-getter. The central idea of this speech is being a good leader. Good leaders are ready to risk their lives for the sake of others. As a result, they are given priority in times of danger and other services. The structure of the speech is fascinating. It is well organized since it has an introduction a brief story of a leader who was Captain William Swenson, the body is the description of good leadership, and the conclusion. In this speech, the speaker has made perfect use of non-verbal cues such as gestures, stage movement, technical pauses, and graphics to ensure the message he intended to deliver is perfectly done.TASK 2When I think about the title, the aspects of what makes a good leader comes into my mind. Furthermore, the benefits of being a good leader also come crisscrosses mind. I find the speech more beneficial due to several reasons. First, the speaker explains the benefits that a good leader can enjoy in particular situations. He further gives examples of people who are supposed to be good leaders. To enhance, I could use slides instead of writing on the whiteboard. Several factors influenced my perception of the speaker. The way he introduced the speech made every person interested in his remarks. His use of nonverbal cues is also standard. The speakers high self-esteem is shown by his eloquence, confidence, the use of non-verbal cues. His self-esteem is also shown by the way he provides insights to give strength to his speech.TASK 3The problem that Peter experiences in this situation is conversation narcissism. Peter needs to adapt to several solutions to overcome this problem. Refereeing to e-Learning Even When it is Difficult to Listen, Peter needs to learn to be tolerant of others before responding to them. He also needs to have a notebook and a pen to take some notes to keep him busy so that he does not interfere with the speech of others. He also needs to understand that others’ ideas too and needs to express their attitudes. Peter thinks his points are more important than others by interrupting the lecture. As a solution to this, Peter needs to lower his ego. On the side, the people who talk with him need to incorporate questions in the conversation to give them a chance to contribute.
The attention-getter in this talk is the use of questions. The speaker poses questions that spark up the audience’s attention so that the audience will be eager to hear what the speaker needs to say about what to do to have an immediate positive benefit to their brain. The central idea in this speech is that the brain requires exercise to realize its changing benefits. The speech I well organized in a persuasive manner as it featured the introduction, attention, need for a solution, visualization, and action. Relevant short stories from the speaker support the ideas. The speaker employs the use of particular nonverbal cues to enhance her speech. She maintains eye contact with the audience and uses body and stage movements.Furthermore, she uses a chart visualization to show parts of the brain. She also makes pauses at technical positions to emphasize the ideas. She also maintains a great posture and poise. When I think of the speech, I outrightly get an idea that the brain also requires exercise to attain particular benefits, and it will be a persuasive speech. The content of the speech is very satisfying, and I find it to be entirely persuasive and full of the speaker’s personal experience that lights up my mind on the importance of exercising the brain. To enhance the meaning of the speech, I would only add a little bit of information on the brain visualized since parts of most of the most important parts have been captured. The factor that influences my perception of the speaker is the use of the visualizer that shows the structure of the brain. Her involvement with the audience also influenced my individual perception of the speaker. The speaker has high self-esteem. This is shown by her speech delivery. She is confident, eloquent, and straightforward. Other than the verbal cues, she also employs some nonverbal cues such as body movement, gestures, eye contact, and dancing to engage the audience. This is also a sign of high self-esteem.The problem, in this case, is that Michael has a conversational narcissism in that he only wants to keep the conversation directed to him. According to the e-learning course, listening even when it is difficult to listen, conversational narcissism has no permanent solution, but the people engaging in the conversation can try as much as possible to contain it. For instance, Julia will have to be prepared to listen more than talking. She should also be vigilant when trying to challenge him. Although she would like to challenge him, she should be vigilant not to counter challenge him in the middle of his speech. Furthermore, she should learn what not to do. That is, paying attention to what sounds like what she would like to say and identifying the areas she would like to improve on by herself.
